TEENAGERS launched a campaign to help kids stop smoking last week.
Manningtree High School’s youth health workers delivered lessons, ran carbon monoxide tests and hosted a stop smoking group throughout the week.
Issues discussed included the effects of smoking & passive smoking, why people smoke and how to reduce the uptake of smoking by teenagers.
Anne Edwards, School First Aider & Stop Smoking Advisor, has been organising a stop smoking group at the school.
She said: “The stop smoking service has been running for a year at Manningtree High School and has highlighted the dangers of smoking and offered advice to students worried about the effects of smoking.
“I feel the Youth Health Trainers will be invaluable in helping to raise awareness amongst their peers."
It is the first project the teenagers have taken up since they were trained by NHS North East Essex health professionals.
